物理治療師是一門非常專業的職業，隨著醫學科技進步，加上全球人口老化，社會對物理治療、復康治療的需求愈來愈大，不少同學都期望能投身此門專業。要成為一位合格的物理治療師，最基本的資格是於大學的物理治療系畢業。香港不少私營機構都會聘請物理治療師，所以市場對物理治療師需求極大，但是全港只有理工大學提供物理治療學課程，每年約提供90個學位，所以本地物理治療師供不應求。
物理治療是基於醫學的非藥物治療方法之一，它是利用人體生理對物理刺激所作出的反應來達到治療目的。例如利用電能、水力、冷凍、熱能、光波、磁力，運動等，配合應用生理、心理、病理和解剖科學，從而達到治療病患、恢復身體活動功能，提昇身體活動能力，改善及加強日常生活或工作能力。
如果學生於外國大學修畢物理治療學課程，完成相關的臨床實習，並成功取得當地的物理治療師執業資格，要回港執業一般不會有太大問題。不過，要注意持有非本港專業學位人士，於香港向輔助醫療業管理局申請註冊時，需持有海外物理治療監管機構認可的大專學院所頒授物理治療學學位，而且該學位為最少3年的全日制物理治療學本科課程或最少2年的全日制物理治療學研究生課程，當中亦需包括最少800小時在督導下執行物理治療的臨床實習課。
於香港向輔助醫療業管理局申請註冊時，同學須遞交所有海外專業學歷及相關工作經驗證明，然後再由本港的物理治療管理委員會作審查及議決是否直接承認該項資格。如有需要，物理治療管理委員有權要求申請人士應考其專業註冊考試(包括筆試及臨床評估，考生必須於筆試及格後才會獲邀應考臨床評估)。

The programme adopts a modular approach to the delivery of content. It incorporates both university taught and practice-based components which have been designed together as an integrated whole.
In Year One of the programme you will develop the core skills and knowledge needed for physiotherapy practice in the key themes of musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory and neuromuscular clinical science.
