什麼是State Grammar School？
State Grammar School是由政府資助的Selective中學，學校非常注重學術成就。這些學校通過稱為11+或 11 Plus學術考試而選擇學生進入7年級。少數Grammar School也接受8年級或9年級的入學，並通過12+或13+的考試來測試學生。Grammar School不收取任何學費，所以競爭程度十分高。
英國有3000多間由國家資助的中學，其中164間是由國家資助的Grammar School，約有167,000名學生。Grammar School可以是男女同校，也可以是男或女校。
在36個英國地方政府中，Grammar School佔164間，北愛爾蘭亦有69間Grammar School，威爾士或蘇格蘭則沒有。學生不一定要在指定學校的地區生活，而獲得學位。一些Grammar School也會在所在地區以外招募學生，而另一些則提供寄宿設施。但是，大多數Grammar School偏向取錄居住於該地區的的學生。
什麼是11+考試？
11+ 考試是通常在Year 6（通常在9月）開始的入學考試。內容因地區的不同而異，但通常基於以下一些或所有類型的問題：英語，數學，文字推理(Verbal Reasoning)，非文字推理 (Non-verbal Reasoning)。它可能涉及參加2至3項的11+ 考試。11+考試主要有兩個Exam Board：
（1）GL評估涉及地區: Berkshire, Bexley, Buckinghamshire, Devon, Gloucestershire, Kent, Shropshire, Walsall, Warwickshire, Wirral, Wolverhampton.。 GL 11+考試涵蓋英語，數學，文字推理，非文字推理 (空間推理)。每所學校可以選擇這些的任意組合以最適合其選擇標準。
（2）CEM考試由Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring at Durham University研發，主要考試地區有：Birmingham, Cumbria, Dorset, Lancashire, Medway, Northern Ireland and Wiltshire)。CEM 11+考試涵蓋文字推理，非文字推理和數字推理。
(文字推理考試包括GL英語考試；數字推理考試包括GL數學考試)
Devon, Essex, Hertfordshire, Trafford and Yorkshire 則會使用GL和CEM考試。
在GL和CEM考試中，非常強調英語和數學的核心技能；包括拼寫，標點，語法，理解和詞彙；另外也包括算術技能，問題解決能力和數據處理能力。非文字推理則評估學生的空間意識，模式發現和邏輯推理。

Kent 以最多Grammar School 為名，合共32間。最出名的Grammar School 有 The Judd School, The Skinner’s School 及Tunbridge Wells Boys Grammar ＆ Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School等。
其他地區競爭性較大的Grammar School 有: Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School for Boys (Barnet); Beaconsfield High School (Beaconsfield); Wycombe High School (High Wycombe); Tiffin Girls’ School (Kingston upon Thame); Tiffin School (Kingston upon Thames); Bishop Wordsworth’s School (Salisbury); South Wilts Grammar School for Girls (Salisbury); Colchester County High School for Girls (Colchester) 等。
2025入學申請申請時間表
2024年4月：大多數Grammar School將在4月或5月開放註冊，並在6月或7月左右截止申請，以便家長為孩子註冊11+的考試
2024年9月：11 +考試將在2024年9月的前兩週內進行。由於考試日期會有差異，因此請與個別學校核對日期
2024年10月：2024年10月中旬發布11項以上的成績
2025年3月：學校分配在2024年3月1日得到確認
2025年9月：Year 7 正式入學

Ms. Lamb
BA in English, University of Portsmouth
She is an experienced English teacher currently working at Poole grammar school. She studied English (BA) at the University of Portsmouth. She has taught as a full time teacher in a range of schools for a number of years. Her subjects include English Language (KS3 & KS4), English Literature (KS3, KS4 & KS5), Drama (KS3 & KS4), Media Studies (mainly theory KS4) and she has also taught Year 9 Sociology. She is adept at teaching via Zoom and gives energetic lessons.
Mr. Thompson
Jeff is a former head of maths and experienced teacher and examiner. He has a Masters degree and PGCE from Sheffield University. He has been tutoring Maths and Physics privately for 8 years to great success. He is adept at online teaching and getting the best out of his pupils using a variety of resources.

Ben specialise in 11+, 13+, and A-Level History and Politics. Ben has been instrumental in getting students into the most prestigious schools in England, including Eton, Harrow, Radley, Winchester, St Pauls and Bradfield. Ben had also helped several students increase their ability to understand verbal and non verbal reasoning problems and in doing so ensured their successful completion of the CAT4 test and in foreign students cases the UKiset Test.
Miss. Harriet
Harriet is a UK native speaker. She is an ambitious and creative teacher with experience in a variety of educational settings and is currently teaching A Level English at a leading independent school in the South West. She studied at Canterbury University in Christchurch, New Zealand. For recent performance management she was rated outstanding. Harriet has been involved with helping students with entrance exams for a number of years and has also marked them for her school. Harriet has a track record of excellent results.
