Le Cordon Bleu Alumni listed in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants |
On Monday 1st June 2015, the World’s 50 Best Restaurants were announced in a prestigious ceremony at the Guildhall in London. Amongst the winning restaurants, we were delighted to hear that two of our alumni made it to the prestigious competition:
- Virgilio Martinez: Central in Lima, Peru – Number 4
- Gaston Acurio: Astrid y Gastón in Lima, Peru – Number 14

Virgilio Martinez trained at Le Cordon Bleu London and Ottawa, before working in several kitchens around the world. In 2009, he launched his own place in Lima: Central – which is today one of the most celebrated restaurants in Peru. |
Gastón Acurio has been Peru’s best known celebrity chef for more than a decade, with a fine-dining empire that now stretches from Bogotá to Madrid, from Buenos Aires to San Francisco and New York. He opened Astrid y Gastón in 1994 after studying a Diplôme de Cuisine in our Paris school. |
We congratulate Gaston and Virgilio on this fantastic achievement, and hope they inspire an enthusiastic new generation of chefs. |
