IBDP 國際文憑大學預科課程

What is the IBDP?

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) is designed for students aged 16-19 with aims to develop students’ intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing word.

Students have to tackle six subjects in total, including 3 at Higher Level (HL) and 3 at Standard Level (SL). In addition, students are required to complete the Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS).

In the DP, students receive grades ranging from 7 to 1, with 7 being highest.

The theory of knowledge (TOK) and extended essay (EE) are awarded individual grades can contribute up to 3 additional points towards the overall Diploma score.

Creativity, Action, Service does not contribute to the points total but is a compulsory requirement for the award of the diploma. The full score would be 45.

 

IB Course Information

We provide 1-to 1 private lessons, regular courses and intensive revision courses before examination period. Students from international schools, local schools or schools in UK are all welcomed. Our maximum class size is up to 4 students.

Joyce graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK with a BSc Government degree and is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Hong Kong. 

Over the past 4 years, Joyce has tutored 30+ IB/GCSE students from notable schools in Hong Kong and the UK, including CIS, LPCUWC, HKIS, WIS, KGV, Harrow School and Godolphin & Latymer School. Joyce mainly teaches English, History and Philosophy, and occasionally helps students with IB Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge. 

Joyce noticed that students are often relatively familiar with the texts, but fail to express their ideas effectively in the exams or assignments. Joyce helps student understand how to structure their essays effectively that will get them the extra marks, as well as the ways to revise efficiently for the upcoming exams.

Mr. Marriott graduated from the University of London, UK with a B.Eng (Hons) in Aeronautical engineering. He spent his high school education in the UK and graduated with a teaching certificate from Nottingham Trent University. He is an experience IB physics and science teacher and has completed Physics CAT 2 IB training.
A positive and motivated teacher, he is committed to providing students with a dynamic and interesting learning environment in which they can grow and develop. He wants to bring his wealth of experience to inspire and motivate students in pursuing academic careers in science and technology. He has substantial industrial and commercial experience.

John graduated with a MEng (1st class honours) in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London, UK.  Before that, he obtained 3As in GCE A Level.  He has five years of industry experience in engineering and public service.  His professional experience has helped him gain insights into real world applications of physics, mathematics and science.  He has more than five years of private tutorial experience, and is very familiar with the IGCSE/GCSE/GCE/IB curriculum.  John is able to explain difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.

Diocesan Boys’ School (IB - 42/45)

Oscar is a Medicine student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He graduated from Diocesan Boys’ School, where he studied IB with final score 42. He also studied in Harrow International School Hong Kong during his junior forms and completed IGCSE. 

Over the past two years, Oscar has tutored students from schools including CIS, Shatin College, DBS, and SPCC. Oscar mainly teaches Biology, Chemistry and Maths. Many students tackle tests or exams by memorizing everything but Oscar helps students understand the logic and thought process behind the content, which is more efficient and leads a better understanding. This could help students answer any type of questions and is invaluable for future learning.

Carmen lived in Canada since she was 3 years old. She obtained her BSc degree Mathematics and Chemistry from the University of Alberta.  Recently, she further earned a MSc degree in Biochemistry.  She has over four years of tutoring experience in Canada and two years of teaching experience at the University of Alberta.  Carmen mainly teaches English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics (junior high, senior high (including AP/IB) and undergraduate level).  She tailors her teaching style according to her students' needs.  Aside from core academia, her other objective is to guide students to unleash their full potential and choose the best educational career path.

Angel is a business student in The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She studied the IBMYP and DP curriculum in an international school. From being a student to a tutor, she understands the struggles of students, and can spot out their mistakes quickly. She has IB tutoring experience in the past and she always makes sure her students can perform and achieve the best in the exam. Angel mostly teaches IB Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS), and Business, and she may also give advices for students with their personal statements.
